VISION STATEMENT "Reaching upward, inward and outward"
Great Plains Community Church bases its vision on the five biblical purposes of the church which are:
Worship: Loving a great Savior. (Matt. 22:36-40)
Fellowship: Obeying the great commandment. (Matt. 22:36-40)
Evangelism: Pursuing a great purpose. (Matt. 28:18-20)
Discipleship: Building great character. (Matt. 28:18-20)
Service: Ministering to others. (Matt. 22:36-40)
Great Plains encourages people to reach upward in worship, inward in fellowship and discipleship and outward in evangelism and service. The five biblical purposes for the church can then be summed up in the statement: Reaching upward, inward and outward.
VALUES
The Word of God: |
We highly value the Bible as God's Word and His will. It is the basis of all creeds and conduct. It should be taught, read, honored, obeyed and presented in an interesting and culturally relevant manner. 2 Tim. 3:16, 1 Cor. 9:22-23.
|
Dependence on the Holy Spirit: |
We value the Holy Spirit's presence, activity, ministry and leadership. We desire to have a constant sensitivity and deference to Him in all that we do. We depend on the Holy Spirit for direction, as well as His gifts and His fruits. Without Him we would be an organization without any life and vitality. John 16:7-10
|
| People: |
God loves people and so do we. It is our desire to create a loving, caring community of believers. We exist to assist and develop people in their spiritual growth. Matt. 22:37-40; John 3:16
|
Children & Youth: |
Children are viewed by Jesus as the greatest in the Kingdom. We desire to reach, teach and nurture them. Matt 18:1-6, 19:14
|
| Excellence: |
The reaction of people to the ministry of Jesus was described in Mark 7:37, where it says, "And were utterly astonished, saying, He has done all things well." We desire to follow His example and have excellence in all facets of our ministry to the end of exalting and glorifying Jesus Christ.
|
| Authenticity: |
Being genuine, sincere and having integrity are important to us. Jesus said in John 4:24 that those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth. The word used for truth means "reality". Being real and authentic in all of our relationships is part of our relating to God. Proverbs 22:1 says that, "a good name is to be more desired than riches." We desire to operate with the utmost integrity in all of our dealings so as to have a good reputation in the church as well as the community. |
